About Braille3D
What is Braille3D?
Braille3D is a free, web-based tool that converts plain text into downloadable 3D-printable braille objects. You type your text, choose a braille standard, choose what kind of object you want, and receive a file that is ready to print. No CAD software, no design experience, and no knowledge of braille required.
The tool runs entirely in your browser and generates output through a precision 3D modelling pipeline. Every product has been physically printed and checked for tactile correctness before being made available.
The problem it solves
Braille generation tools have existed for years, but almost all of them do exactly one thing: flat, single-line braille labels. That is useful, but it falls far short of what people who use braille actually need in daily life. Alongside the limited scope, many of the available tools are unnecessarily complicated. Confusing interfaces, unclear options, and little guidance for users who are not already technically experienced.
Braille is a full writing system. The tools for creating physical braille objects should reflect that.
A full suite, not just a label maker
Braille3D was built to be a complete set of tools for everyday braille needs. The current product range includes:
- Labels: small flat plates for bottles, containers, switches, folders, and anything that needs tactile identification
- Business Cards: standard 95 × 60 mm cards with raised braille on the front and optional engraved text on the back, with an optional QR code
- Signs: a full sign family covering bathroom signs, room signs, name plates, office signs, room identifier signs, and restaurant menu plates
- Keyrings: five shapes including car plate, round tag, house tag, bone tag, and heart tag, with selectable braille-and-text, braille-only, or text-only rendering
- Birthday Cards: content-driven greeting cards with raised braille and optional mirrored engraved underside
- Letters: full-page braille letters with optional engraved readable text on the underside
- Braille Tiles: individual learning tiles combining raised braille with raised visible letters, available as single tiles, custom sets, or complete alphabets
All products support multiple braille standards across many different languages.
Who it is for
Braille3D is for anyone who needs a physical braille object. Parents labelling their home for a blind child, teachers creating tactile classroom materials, workplaces installing accessible signage, or anyone wanting to send something meaningful to someone who reads with their fingers. You do not need to own a printer: the STL file can be sent to any 3D printing service.
Accessibility first
The generator is built to work well with screen readers and assistive technology. Accessibility is not an afterthought here, it is the starting point.
The person behind it
Braille3D is created by me, Edis Adilovic. I am an accessibility consultant, self-taught 3D designer, and speaker based in Odense, Denmark. I have been blind since age 2, and discovered 3D printing in 2023. The tool grew directly out of my own experience of finding that nothing adequate existed, so I built it myself.
